Mid SVC

Console display of Mid SVC

As the catheter/VPS® Stylet assembly advances through the vasculature, the Doppler signature indicates more pulsatile flow with increasing amplitude. The ECG waveform becomes distinguished as the VPS Stylet advances towards the SA node, the source for electrical activity. (The Green Arrow indicates to continue advancing the catheter).

Right Atrium

Console display of Right Atrium

The catheter/VPS® Stylet assembly has advanced into the right atrium. The Doppler signature is primarily retrograde flow due to turbulence. (The Orange No Entry symbol indicates entry into the right atrium). On the ECG, the P-Wave is maximal, decreasing or inverted. Reposition or pull back the catheter until the Green Arrow reappears, and continue advancing the catheter.

No SIgnal

Console display of No Signal

The cathether/VPS® Stylet assembly is positioned against the wall of the vein, or is still inside the catheter. (The Yellow Triangle indicates insufficient Doppler information). Reposition the catheter until a Green Arrow is obtained, and continue advancing the catheter.

Distal SVC-CAJ

Console display of Distal SVC-CAJ

The Doppler signature has grown and now has a cathedral shape. The flow has the highest velocity at this point. The ECG has grown and displays a prominent P-Wave spike. The Blue Bullseye indicates that the catheter/VPS® Stylet assembly is at the lower 1/3 of the SVC-CAJ. Once the Blue Report button is illuminated, press the Screen Capture button on the remote control to create and save a PDF of this screen. In addition to an image of this screen, the statement "Tip Placed At Lower 1/3 of SVC Or At CAJ" will appear on the PDF.
